Czerwony Wierch

Czerwony Wierch (la "Montagne Rouge") est l’une des courses les plus fabuleuses du coin. Cette montagne, une longue arête en dos d'ânes, entre Pologne et Slovaquie, contitue un peu la charnière entre les deux grandes régions des Tatras. Elle est dominée par 4 sommets successifs, tous entre 2100 et 2200m, et présente d’impressionnants à-pic côté Polonais. Les vues y sont de tout premier ordre, surtout sur les Hautes Tatras, et sur la vallée de Koscieliska. Cette boucle, qui part de cette dernière, est un moyen original de parcourir cette montagne sous toutes ses coutures.

Czerwony Wierch (the "Red Mountain") is one of the most fabulous treks in the area. This mountain, a long undulating ridge, between Poland and Slovakia, makes the hinge between two big regions of the Tatras. It is topped by 4 successive summits, all between 2100 and 2200m, with some impressive cliffs on the Polish side. The views are breathtaking, as much to the High Tatras, as to the Koscieliska valley. The loop, starting from this place, is an original way to visit it under all its angles.

Comme l'avant veille, nous démarrons dans la Dolina Koscieliska, mais seulement pour un petit bout de chemin, car nous bifurquons ensuite vers le col Miętusi Przysłop (balisage noir).
As the day before yesterday, we start in the Dolina Koscieliska, but only for few minutes, because we turn left in the direction of the col Miętusi Przysłop (black marks).

Vue sur Giewont, majestueux vu d'ici, du Miętusi Przysłop puis de la vallée Dolina Małej Łąki, vers laquelle nous redescendons légèrement.

En montant vers le col Kondracka Przełęcz, devant une corniche spectaculaire. Décor calcaire, avec même quelques lapiaz, comme au Cotiella !

Le sommet de Giewont, avec sa croix, depuis le col, et la vallée Dolina Kondracka. Je me trouve au même point qu'en 2004, mais j'arrive du côté opposé et je vais également dans la direction opposée sur la crête.

Je surplombe à présent le cirque de la Dolina Malej Laki.
I am overlooking the big corrie of the Dolina Malej Laki.

Me voilà au sommet de Kopa Kondracka, au croisement d'une autre arête qui arrive de Kasprowy wierch. En fond, les Hautes Tatras.

Côté opposé, à l'Ouest, commence la longue croupe en dos d'ânes de Czerwony Wierch que je m'apprête à suivre, et dont la seconde cime se nomme Małołączniak.
On the opposite side, West, starts the long undulating ridge of Czerwony Wierch I am ready to follow, and whose second top is named Małołączniak.

Nous surplombons l'agglomération de Zakopane, tout en bas dans la vallée.
We are overlooking the city of Zakopane, downside in the valley.

Je suis sur la frontière Polonaise-Slovaque. Vue en arrière.
I am on the Polish-Slovak border. Looking backwards.

Du sommet de Małołączniak se profile la 3eme cime et point culminant, Krzesanica. Par moments, ces étendues herbeuses désertes me rappellent l'Ecosse...
From the summit of Małołączniak appears the 3rd top and highest point, Krzesanica. From time to time, these desert grassy reliefs remind me Scotland...

Par je ne sais quelle tradition, le sommet de Krzesanica est bondé de cairns ! L'endroit est complètement désert et cette foule d'édifices crée une ambiance lugubre...
From I don't know which tradition, the summit of Krzesanica is packed with cairns ! The place is completely desert and this crowd of stony shapes makes the atmosphere a bit gloomy...

C'est sur la fin que l'arête devient la plus spectaculaire, en se rétrécissant.
It is on the end that the ridge becomes the most interesting, getting narrower.

La fin de cette grande et spectaculaire boucle, en redesncendant vers le point de départ sur l'arête d'Adamica.

Chamois des Tatras, "Kozica" en Polonais, "Kamzik" en Slovaque. Il n'en reste plus que 60 spécimens. Victime du tourisme de masse, de la pollution, des pluies acides... de l'excellente santé du lynx et du loup... et encore du braconnage, surtout côté Polonais (comment est-ce encore possible ?!)
Chamois of the Tatras, "Kozica" in Polish, "Kamzik" in Slovak. Only 60 specimens are remaining today. Victims of mass tourism, pollution, acid rains... also the excellente health of the lynx and the wolf... and still from illegal hunting, especially in the Polish hillside (how is it still possible ?!)
