La traversée par Baranie Sedlo, hors-sentier et possible seulement si l'on est accompagné de guide ou titulaire d'une carte de club alpin, est mon premier véritable hors-sentier (hormis celui de Ladové Pleso en 2004...). Cette traversée par ce col me tenait à coeur depuis un certain temps, dont la potientielle possibilité ou impossibilité m'a fait cogiter à vrai dire depuis les premières ébauches du trek de 2004... Accompagnée du sommet homonyme situé à proximité, Baranie Rohy, réputé pour sa hauteur et réputé pour être le 2500 des Tatras le plus accessible, le programme était extrêmement alléchant. Avec la neige qui s'invite en plus au rendez-vous, tous les ingrédients d'une grande course étaient là. Sans aucun doute, pour Romain comme pour moi, notre sortie la plus accomplie jamais réalisée dans les Tatras...

The cross through Baranie Sedlo, off-trail and possible only accompanied by a guide or being the cardholder of an alpine club, is my first real off-trail (except for Ladové Pleso in 2004 ...). The crossing through this pass was a project I kept close to my heart for a long time, and whose potential possibility or impossibility made me wonder, actually, since the first drafts of the 2004 trek ... Together with the identically named and nearby summit, Baranie Rohy, famous for its height and known to be the most accessible of Tatras's 2500, the program was extremely tempting. With the snow which joined the party in the last moment, all the ingredients of an outstanding climb were there. Without any doubt, for Romain as well as me, our most accomplished trip ever done in the Tatras ...

Réveil extrêmement matinal au Chata pri Zelenom Plese, avant le service du p'tit dej. Nous sommes théoriquement en situation régulière, puisque titulaires d'une carte, mais nous souhaitons quand même éviter les ennuis...
Very early wake-up, at the Chata pri Zelenom Plese, before the service of the breakfast. We are theorically in regular situation, since cardholders, but we still would like to avoid troubles...

Nous nous élevons donc de bonne heure dans la Veľká Zmrzla Dolina, au fond de laquelle le refuge se fait de plus en plus petit à mesure que nous montons...
Then, we are climbing in the very early morning in the Veľká Zmrzla Dolina, in the end of which the mountain hut gets smaller and smaller as we go further...

La pente de Veľká Zmrzla Dolina s'adoucit une fois parvenus dans sa section large. Nous foulons à présent la neige et songeons à chausser les crampons d'un instant à l'autre.
The slope of Veľká Zmrzla Dolina gets softer while we reach its larger section. We now walk continuously in the snow and are thinking to put crampons on in a minute.

Romain, non loin de Baranie Sedlo, la brèche qu'il nous faut atteindre. Des gens sont déjà passés avant nous, ce qui est déjà rassurant, et nous ont fait la trace...
Romain, not far from Baranie Sedlo, the breach we have to reach. Some people already went through before us, which is reassuring, and they also made the trace...

Nous arrivons à Baranie Sedlo, haute brèche à 2389m, presque simultanément avec deux alpinistes Tchèques montés par l'autre côté, la vallée Malá Studená Dolina dont on voit les lacs en bas.
We arrive to Baranie Sedlo, high breach at 2389m, almost simultaneously with two Czech alpinist who climbed from the other side, the valley Malá Studená Dolina whose lakes we see in the bottom.

Mais qui heureusement, peu après s'élargit. La cime de Baranie Rohy et un grand terrain de footbal en pente.

Au sommet de l'un des plus hauts pics des Tatras, nous nous sentons sur le toit du monde. Grandiose. Ca pourrait être un Bachimala, un Besiberri, un Hourgade...
On the top of one of the highest peaks of the Tatras, we feel like on the top of the world. Breathtaking. I could compare it to my Bachimala, Besiberri, Hourgade and so on...

Nous entamons la redescente, dans un premier temps sur une pente neigeuse aussi redressée qu'à la montée, mais qui heureusement ne tarde pas à s'adoucir. Nous quittons la fraicheur pour entrer dans le versant ensoleillé.
We start to climb down, first on a snowy slope as steep as the way up, but fortunately shorter before it gets more flat. We leave the fresh to enter into the sunny hillside.

La neige, que nous quittons, d'ailleurs, tout comme la "clandestinité", peu après, puisque nous retrouvons les sentiers balisés.

Sous le ressaut sur lequel est situé le refuge, la vallée continue de descendre et se reboise petit à petit...
Under the step on which the hut is perched, the valley keeps going down and forests reappear slowly.

L'ambiance automnale montagnarde est toujours délicieuse, avec cette météo parfaite.
Autumnal mountain atmosphere is still as delicious, with this perfect weather.

Nous plongeons ensuite dans la forêt colorée.
Then we plunge into the colorful forest.
Pour suivre quelques instants le sentier de la Tatranska Magistrala.
To follow for a short time the trail of the Tatranska Magistrala.

Un dernier adieu à la haute montangne; nous entre-apercevons d'ici la seconde motié de la vallée, la Veľká Studená Dolina, et le pic Východná Vysoká, scènes de la sortie d'il y a un an, non moins réussie, mais sans la neige alors.
A last goodbye to the high mountain; we can see from there the second half of the valley, the Veľká Studená Dolina, and the peak Východná Vysoká, scenes of the trip of one year ago, not less successful, but without any snow then.

Nous regagnons la route et l'arrêt de bus qui nous ramènera à Ždiar, en finissant de descendre la vallée le long du cours d'eau Studený Potok.
We get back to the road and the bus stop which will take us back to Ždiar, finishing to walk down the valley along the stream Studený Potok.
