Comment décrire l'Irlande ? Souvent, lors de l'évocation des pays dits celtiques, un même genre de description vient à l'esprit des gens, entre l'Irlande et l'Ecosse. Même si ces deux pays possèdent des régions qui se ressemblent singulièrement, ils ont tous deux leur caractère propre. L'Irlande est plus verte, plus vallonnée, moins montagneuse et escarpée. Moins rude aussi en général que cette dernière, à l'image de ses habitants, qui selon ma sérieuse opinion sont les plus sympas du monde, et aussi du Whiskey local. Voyager en Irlande est tout simplement le meilleur moyen de se rendre compte à quel point penser que les gens du Sud sont les plus chaleureux est une idée reçue. Du fait de sa position dans l'Atlantique aux avant postes de l'Europe, l'impression qui me revient le plus souvent est celle de me trouver à la proue d'un navire fait de falaises et plages, et recouvert de pelouse, qui traverserait la mer. Son climat extrêmement océanique et les nuages qui courrent sans cesse dans le ciel lui donnent une luminosité toujours changeante, ne se résumant pas simplement à une simple expression binaire de mauvais temps et soleil. Au contraire, la palette de couleurs qui s'offre à nos yeux et le murmure du vent constant à notre oreille récitent une poésie sans fin, tantôt capricieuse, tantôt apaisante. L'Irlande, c'est une histoire d'amour. Que ce soit l'été 96, par la vitre du train en partant rejoindre une correspondante, (j'allais dans l'inconnu plus total!) ou les vacances de Pâques 99, venu par le Nord depuis Cairnryan en Ecosse en voiture, ce pays m'a toujours epoustoufle par ses paysages et fait rêver. How to descibe Ireland ? Often, at the evocation of celtic countries, a same sort of description come to people's mind, between Ireland and Scotland. Even is these two lands have regions that present singular similarities, they both have their own character. Ireland is more green, more round-shaped, less mountainous and steep. Less rude most of the time than the last one, also at the image of its inhabitants, who are the coolest in the world, according to my serious opinion, and the local Whiskey too. Travelling to Ireland is simply the best way to realize how much thinking that people from the South are the warmest is a wrong idea. Because of its position in the Atlantic at the Europe's forefront, the impression that reminds me the most is to be located at the prow of a ship made of cliffs and beaches, and covered of grass, that would be crossing the sea. Its extremely oceanic climate and the clouds continually running through the sky gives it a always changing luninosity, not simply abstracted as a simple binary expression of bad weather and sun. On the contrary, the colour's palette offered to the eye and the constant murmur of the wind at the ear are reciting an endless poesy, once capricious, once appeasing. Ireland, that's a love story. During the summer 96, through the window of the train, going to visit a penfriend (I was going in the complete unknown !) as much as last Easter holidays, coming by the North from Cairnryan in Scotland with the car, this country has always amazed me with its landscapes and made me dream.
