Movison Grande
2593 m ; 21/08/05

One week after our last hike in the Slovak Carpathes, here we are in the heart of Aragon for the first of these five days of walk... What a sudden change of mountain landscape ! We chose the Spannish hillside since the weather on the French one was torment-like. One of the last easy hikes I wanted to do in this Spannish valley was the Movison from the pass of Santa Isabel. This secondary top of the Cotiella, that faces the Punta Llerga, was one missing piece of my knowledge of this superb massif.

Before we go to the Movison, I decide to show quickly the wonderful site of the Ibon de Plan to Dorota.

It's not a bad idea since the weather is still a bit cloudy in the morning. The lake is surprisingly low.

The massif of the Cotiella hasn't changed, as dry and wild as ever.

One hour of track later, after driving down and up to the junction whose branch lead to the col of Santa Isabel, panorama to the valley of Cinca and the Aragon land, having troubles to contain France's moody weather that day.

View to the other side of the col, from where I always wonder if a path is continuing, and from where we see far away the Peña Solana.

After few hours of walking up, we reach the edge of the great plateau of Ereta de las Bruxas. View to the unwelcoming tops of the Cotiella. We meet there another group of French on the way back, who gave up reaching the summit because of wind and cold. Leave your deams of sunny Spain in August at home !

Just below the top, panorama to the valley, and the col of Santa Isabel, with the Peña Montañesa, the Punta Llerga, and the massif of Monte Perdido in front of us.

We too, we decide to give up scrambling the last ten meters that separate us from the top of the Movison, the steep rock doesn't inspire much my friend, and to be honest, it's bloody freezing ...
