Second jour dans les Tatras Occidentales. Après la mise en jambe d'hier, nous jetons notre dévolu sur la plus longue des vallées: la Dolina Chocholowska. Elle est l'opposé total de la Dolina Koscieliska, très longue et beaucoup plus progressive. Mais cette "monotonie" (toute relative) est compensée par son principal point d'intérêt, que représente son célèbre vestige de village pastoral. Wołowiec, son sommet principal qui la ferme, fut l'objectif de cette nouvelle magnifique randonnée.

Second day in the Western Tatras. After the warming up of yesterday, we chose to deal with the longest of the valleys: the Dolina Chocholowska. It is the complete opposite of the Dolina Koscieliska, very long and progressive. But its "monotony" (don't understand it as boredom) is compensated by its main point of interest, that is the famous vestige of pastoral village. Wołowiec, its main sommit which ends it, was the aim of this new fine day.

Comme la veille, notre pic du jour est également visible de la fenêtre du gîte au lever de soleil: Wołowiec est le sommet roux éclairé au fond.
Just like yesterday, today's peak is visible again from the window of the guesthouse: Wołowiec is the reddish summit lightened behind.

Nous sommes ici à hauteur de l'estive "Polana Hicuska", bien plus loin. Cette vallée est extrêmement longue, en raison de la frontière du Parc. La route était autrefois ouverte jusqu'ici, mais a été fermée en raison des trop nombreux véhicules. Aujourd'hui c'est l'une des vallées les moins fréquentées, on comprend pourquoi...
Soulignons qu'il est cependant possible de louer des vélos, voire même faire la piste en rollers, car le revêtement est excellent (rando rollers puis montagne, vous y avez déjà songé ?)

Here we are in the pasture "Polana Hicuska", much further. This valley is extremely long, because of the border of the Park. The road was formerly open until here, but was closed because of the too numerous vehicles. Today it's one of the quitest, we understand why...
Anyway, let's underline there is a bicycle rental available, or it's even possible to ride the distance with rollers, since the coating is excellent (roller and mountain trek, have you ever imagined it ?)

Ici cesse la théorique ballade à rollers, vous l'aurez deviné, mais nous arrivons à l'estive de la Polana Chocholowska, endroit emblématique de la vallée, avec son village historique.
Here stops the theorical roller ride, as you guess, but we arrive to the pasture of the Polana Chocholowska, emblematic place of the valley, with its historic village.

Les granges de Chocholowska sont un peu ce que sont celles du Moudang aux Pyrénées. Ce sont des constructions datant pour certaines de plus de 200 ans ! C'est un véritable musée à ciel ouvert.
The barns of Chocholowska are a bit what are the ones to the Moudang, in the Pyrenees. Some of these constructions are as old as 200 years ! This is a real open air folk museum.

Ces constructions de bois sont un véritable chef d'oeuvre de menuisier, n'utilisant presque aucun clou. Tout le savoir faire de la région, ancestral, s'exprime ici.
These wooden constructions are a real carpenter masterpiece, using almost no nails. All the ancestral know-how of the region express itself here.

Montée dans les hauteurs boisées du contrefort Ouest de la vallée. Dans la zone calcaire, la vallée dresse ces impressionnantes pinacles au dessus du village.

Panorama Est, depuis la crête de Grześ. Les Hautes Tatras ne sont pas visibles, mais on distingue Czerwony Wierch à gauche.

Vue sur la Dolina Roháčska, la "4e vallée" des Tatras Occidentales, qui appartient à la Slovaquie et qui a la particularité de diriger ses eaux vers le Sud (donc le Danube), malgré commencer en versant Nord. Ces deux spécificités cumulées expliquent son plus grand éloigement d'accès, par la route.
View to the Dolina Roháčska, the "4th valley" of the Western Tatras, that belongs to Slovakia and that have the particularity to lead its waters to the South (then in the Danube), despite starting on the Northern hillside. This two specificities combined explain its more remote access by the road.

Nous continuons sur l'arête, qui nous mène à la proéminence de Rakon. Panorama à nouveau vers l'Est. Starorobocianski Wierch, le sommet où nous étions hier, est visible sur la droite. Nous voyons aussi toujours les Hautes Tatras dans la même direction, mais ô combien plus loin...
We keep going on the ridge, that leads to the bump of Rakon. Panorama again to the East. Starorobocianski Wierch, the summit where we were yesterday, is visible on the right. We also still see the High Tatras in the same direction, but so much further...

Retournons à nouveau la tête de l'autre côté, pour un nouveau panorama sur la Dolina Roháčska, qui est fermée par les très fiers pics d'Ostrý Rohác et Banikov.
Let's turn again the head on the other side, for a new panorama to the Dolina Roháčska, which is ended by the very proud peaks of Ostrý Rohác and Banikov.
