Veľký Choc

Veľký Choc est l'une des montagnes les plus charismatiques de Slovaquie. Non pas qu'elle soit la plus haute, loin de là, car elle tutoie à peine les 1600. Mais de par son isolement, son omniprésence, elle domine la région de Liptov et elle est visible, immanquable, depuis quasiment tous les massifs voisins , des Tatras Occidentales aux Basses Tatras, en passant par les Malá et Veľká Fatra. Grand massif calcaire à la forme complexe, sorte de "frère" du voisin Rozsutec, Veľký Choc, point culminant de cette zone de moyenne montagne, peut se gravir de 4 ou 5 manières différentes. Son sommet propose une vue complètement inédite sur les Tatras, vues parfaitement de profil.

Veľký Choc is one of the most charismatic mountains in Slovakia. Not that it is the highest, far from it, because it barely flirts with the 1600. But because of its lonelyness, its imposing presence, it dominates all the Liptov region and it is visible, impossible to miss, since almost all neighbouring ranges, from the Western Tatras to the Low Tatras, including the Malá and the Veľká Fatra. Wide and complex limestone top, a kind of "brother" of the neighbour Rozsutec, Veľký Choc, culminates in this mid-mountainous area, and can climbed in 4 or 5 different ways. Its summit offers a completely original view of the Tatras, which we see exactly in their alignment.

La petite pointe secondaire Malý Choc, et le sommet de Veľký Choc (respectivement, le petit et le grand Choc).
The little sharp secondary top is Malý Choc, and then the sommit of Veľký Choc (respectely, the small and the big Choc).

D'épais pins nains compliquent un peu la montée. La zone, rocailleuse, est aussi joliment fleurie.
Some thick dwarf pine complicate slightly the climb. The area, quite rocky, has also nice flowers.

Panorama Est, avec une perspective originale sur les Tatras Occidentales vues exactement de profil. C'est dans la forêt, en dessous, qui nous séparent d'elles, que se situent les gorges de Kvačianska et Prosiecka.

Les sommets les plus visibles sont ceux du groupe de Banikov, mais on distingue loin au centre Bystrá.
The summits the most visible are the ones of the Banikov group, but we also recognize in the centre Bystrá.
Ici, panorama sur les Malá Fatra, également très voisins, avec la crête qui comprend respectivement Fatranský Kriváň, Chleb, Stoh, et enfin la forme accidentée de Rozsutec. Malý Rozsutec est même visible tout à droite.
Here, a panorama to the Malá Fatra, also very close, with the crest that contains respectively Fatranský Kriváň, Chleb, Stoh, and finally the jagged shape of Rozsutec. Malý Rozsutec is even recognizible on the very right end.
