At the amazement of a group of cyclers who wonder where the hell am I going, I start directly to climb the South slope in order to reach the plateau 200 m higher by circumventing the wood. View to the plateau. |
A good path now follows the edge, leading to the Montagne de la Plate top. |
A thick foggy cloud still covers the summits, like the "Puy of the Ptarmigan", secondary top of Puy de Sancy (on the right a bit in background). Taken from the Montagne de la Plate (red screes). |
We see the jagged shaped slope leading to the Salt Fountain Corrie |
The Mont Dore valley, where the Dordogne river source is (name probably constitued by a combination of the two streams that start here, the Dore and the Dogne). It is sadly spoiled by the winter sports equipments. |
The Cock crest, rock that apparently survived the erosion. Notice the "Hind" waterfall in the bottom. |
Same origin for the "Rancor Tooth" rock. |
The Puy de l'Angle, round shaped hill, starts another zone of small interesting tops. I would have done tomorow's walk here for sure if the weather (again !) didn't change my plans. |
Vus d'en bas, la Dent de la Rancune et Crête du Cocq me rappellent la forme de The Cobbler. Seen from below, the Rancor tooth and the Cock crest remember me the shape of The Cobbler. |
La Cascade de la Biche. The "Hind" waterfall. |
